In some parts of finance they require people to take off one week blocks, but I know far more managers who think that if the multiculture organization can survive without someone for more than 1 week, the organization can survive without that person for the other 51 weeks in the year.
In the software industry, since the arrival of the agile methodology, each and every day requires the push that used to come before a deliverable, and each sprint is to packed that no one on any team involved can afford Read more [...]
Outspoken and courageous are not the same thing. Palin is a niche candidate who appeals to people with narrow views who feel they have been slighted. Palin is perpetually slighted, perpetually the victim. The politics of victimhood are not brave. Palin has not shown that she can propose solid solutions to what ails us.
Look at what she had to say about teh Middle East where she kept whining that obama needed to say who our friends are and who our enemies are! As if that is even possible! Our friends Read more [...]
The article is misleading and biased and does not address all the considerations. How about all the money down the drain that was paid in rent? How about the tax break on interest payments on a mortgage? If renting is so much better then owning your own business; then the owner of the property (those renting) are foolish because they are losing money. There are many other positive consideration to owning rather then renting. With the exception of the last few years owning property has been a much Read more [...]
The IRS should be tasked with preparing a draft identifying currently allowed deductions and the amount of tax deductions 2012 deductions currently allowed for each item.. A team composed of Senators from each party and currently up for election in 2012 should be tasked with recommending a reduction in the deduction limit.
Elimination of the deduction for mortgage interest, dwelling tax, or sales tax would truly destroy the sick housing market. However some legislators have those as targets.

Mr Lyles, apologies for addressing this to you, but the WSJ offers no way to respond to Mr Bhide.
I do not consider myself a Scrooge, but I would like to see everyone receiving a W-2, 1099 tax calculator, or whatever to pay some federal income tax, even if it be the equivalent of the widow's mite. All who can should have some skin in the game.
Of course, society should provide a safety net for those who lack the means to provide it themselves. Still, if they earn, I submit they should pay -- even Read more [...]
Really good points! Regardless of the e-reader, most people use this format for shelf space/travel convenience. Most people will continue for the foreseeable future to buy hardbacks for texts, coffee table monsters, etc. where permanence may be an important factor. As an avid reader of many genres, I simply am not going to revisit most of my e-book purchases so permanent and transferrable e-book formats are not that important. An e-book is not going to have intrinsic and extrinsic motivation value Read more [...]
I agree that Apple has redfined the market testing. My only complaint is that the coverage is not objective. Vista had its issues, but the coverage was entirely negative. Windows 7 is pretty darn good. We hear about every issue in every MS product, but when an Apple product doesn't have basic functionality, that's ok because of their quality control? MS gets dinged for market testing on its customers, but the iPon has WiFi issues on launch day and that's ok? The iPhone couldn't do simple cutting Read more [...]
I would remind you that it is California's Balance Budget Amendment which has been so far our only means to raining in State spending by the Democratic Legislature whom believe the best way to worklife balance the budget is by raising new taxes. It is the same legislature which continues to plead to do away with the super major requirement for passing new taxes. Even our voters know the reality is this is short hand for let us balance the budget by passing more new taxes. Bottom line is the Initiative Read more [...]
Actually when I purchase things over the Internet I prefer to use my Credit Card. Although I can raise my limit if I want too, I have told Visa to lock it at $5000. I also use it to pay my bills over the Internet as well, but I always pay it off at the end of the month. I think that it is a lot safer and if someone does steal my CC #, they are limited to how much they can get and my bank acct is safe.
I also understand that just because you have a best credit card deals card that does not mean that Read more [...]
I have billed insurance companies and Medicaid for many years as a doctor, and know very well what they cover and don't. Medicaid patients are very limited in what adhd medications for children get approved, children have a very hard time getting Singulair for example in the state I work in, and instead the government would rather they get worsened asthma and go to the ER or wind up in an ICU. I know guidelines, I have had many patients denied care due to them. Yes those are my issues, and for those Read more [...]
